Porsche 911 Carrera: Best Product Design 2012



Porsche 911 Carrera won the red dot award for product design category 2012. Porsche 911 Carrera won the highest score of 30 judges from around 4,500 product designs of the 58 countries assessed in this award.

Porsche design team led by Michael Mauer managed to continue the 911 success story. He said the Porsche design process, ensuring the evolution of the Porsche 911 has the looks, but still known as the 911.

"At Porsche, we use two concepts to achieve this: brand identity and products. Brand identity that is recognizable as a Porsche should be Porsche at first sight and the identity of the product means that the audience can immediately find out what the Porsche models are being viewed, "he said.

The 911 identified by the line side of a steep roof, flat, silhouette, interesting terrain, the use of air intakes instead of a radiator grille, side of the oval window down, the shoulder line is asserted, visible tailpipe. Wheelbase with a size of 100 millimeters longer and less high-car coupled with 20-inch wheels provide an athletic appearance.

The award is both a tribute to Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who died in Salzburg, 5 April 2012 and, at the age of 76 years. As the creator of the Porsche 911, he was considered able to establish the philosophy of sports cars Porsche output.
